What Calibre Check can and cannot see
Every check ends in one of three answers, each with its source and date: Found (a sourced statement exists), Not found (a complete read of a register does not list it) or Insufficient evidence (Calibre holds no official source that can confirm or rule it out). Today most checks answer insufficient evidence. That is not evidence of wrongdoing; it means the registers Calibre can read do not cover the question. Status as of 7 October 2026.
| Register | What Calibre reads | What that means for a check |
|---|---|---|
| CBN licensed financial institutions | Read. The Central Bank's lists are complete, but the detail needed to match an institution to a state is missing for most microfinance banks. | Statements exist only for the microfinance banks that could be matched by exact name and state. |
| FCCPC register of digital lenders | Read. The register publishes no location. | A lender cannot be matched to a business by name and state, so there are no statements yet. |
| SEC Nigeria public warnings | Read. The list has no official identifier and no location. | No statements yet; a match would need a unique exact name plus a location. |
| CAC public search | Not read. The CAC's terms restrict republishing its data. | A CAC number can be checked for format only. Calibre cannot confirm or rule out a registration. |
| SEC registered operators, NAFDAC, LASRERA, NOGIC | Not read. No usable list address or readable reuse terms were found. | Calibre says nothing about these. |
