Privacy notice
Last updated 29 September 2026
This notice explains how Calibre handles personal data. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
Who we are
Calibre is a product of Braynex Services, a company registered in Nigeria. Braynex Services decides how the data described here is used. You can reach us at hello@calibre.ng.
What data we handle
- Public business listing data. Business name, category, address, phone number, website and opening hours, taken from public listings. For a sole trader or a small business, a phone number or address can identify a person.
- Official register facts. Facts copied from official Nigerian registers, such as the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Each fact is shown with its source and the date we observed it. A register entry can name an individual, for example the owner of a registered business name.
- Check queries. When you use Check, the text you type (a business name, phone number, account number or CAC number) is processed to show you a result. The application does not store it.
- Correction and contact requests. The details you send when you ask us to correct or remove something: your message, your contact details and any documents you choose to attach.
- Server logs. Our web server records technical request data, such as IP address, time and the page requested, to keep the site secure and working.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use this data to run a public directory and an evidence record that helps people decide whether to trust a business before they pay it. We also use it to answer correction requests and to keep the service secure.
Our legal basis is legitimate interest under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. That interest is helping the public check public and official information. We limit what we publish to the source and date of each fact, and we weigh this against your rights. If you object, we look at your request individually.
What we do not do
- No cookies, no analytics or tracking scripts, and no advertising.
- No user accounts.
- We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
- Register history: kept, so that a report can show what changed and when. If a record was wrong, we correct it and say so in the history.
- Correction requests: up to 2 years after we close the request.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you access to the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it because you object. Use the corrections page or email hello@calibre.ng. Tell us what page or report you mean and how we can reach you. We aim to answer within 7 days.
If a register is itself wrong, the body that keeps the register must correct it. We then update our report on our next release.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we change the date at the top of the page. Read also our terms of use.
